Vanessa is a Yoga Alliance US and UK certified Yoga instructor. She teaches Vinyasa and Yin Yoga. After teaching in Amsterdam at six different studios, she is now teaching the lovely people of Bath.

In a Day Retreat, you choose to switch off from your 'daily life'. It is very healthy to, once in a while, take a step back, revalidate your life and gain new insights. As the Western way of living constantly gives us input, through social media and the sense of always needing to be available, this highly stresses our system. A good old fashioned way of spending your Sundays in a quiet, peaceful space with an opportunity to relax, renew and restore yourself. This is a great investment in your physical and mental health.
With this day retreat you will unwind, become more silent, relax deeply, give your body a complete stretch, boost your immune system, balance your hormonal system, lower your blood pressure and allow you body to heal itself. In the Yin Yoga approach you will find which stretches are best for you, boost some yoga myths and get to know your body better!
What will you do in a day?
Yin yoga poses with the focus on target areas, we take time to find the pose that work for you. You will do slow flows, meditate, breathe and do guided relaxations.
All levels and experiences are welcome.

Attended a fantastic Yin yoga workshop with Vanessa. She provided very helpful cues and adjustments throughout. I left feeling super-relaxed after the deep stretching and can feel an improvement in my flexibility already. Highly recommended if you do any kind of other sport or just want to increase your mobility/flexibility or calm your mind.

I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the class. It was a really wonderful experience, both deeply relaxing and invigorating at the same time. I had a big concert last weekend where I was playing a concerto with an orchestra. I used my newly learned yoga skills to relax and focus in the hours before the performance and found that I felt more centered and comfortable than I have in a long time. What a great way to control performance anxiety.
My hips feel a little sore today, but in an incredible way - my legs feel longer and feel like someone is gently pulling them out of the socket, showing how much they have opened out already, and I think gives a good indication of how this different style of practice will benefit me in the long run and help me build strength in my weaker troubled areas.
My shoulders also feel broader, and I slept really well; something i have been struggling with over the last few weeks.
I really enjoyed the class, it's really different to my practice in flow yoga and I think this will compliment my lifestyle by doing both, alongside the cardio and strength exercises i do in the gym. I really want my body to have the chance to be the best it can be, and that's not about being thin!
I really like your style as a yoga teacher too, making sure that we are in the best position for our own bodies and making sure that we have everything we need to be able to enjoy the class. You come across really caring and nurturing, which fits perfectly with the yin yoga experience.
Vanessa is a wonderful teacher and a true team player in regards to the community she works with. She worked with us at You Can Yoga in Amsterdam and the students loved her classes just as much as we loved having her in our little family.
